About this Death Cafe

Grab a your favorite beverage and snack and join us for a rousing unstructured conversation on all things death. There is no set agenda or theme, and most importantly, this is not grief support (see my resources page for relevant links if you’re in need of that service).

This event is about increasing awareness around death so that you can enjoy your life more fully. That’s really all there is to it.

About Oceana Sawyer

I got the “call” to assist folks in their biggest life’s transformation back in 2005 when sat vigil for my father. Embracing the mystery and using clairvoyant tools, he and I felt our way through his dying process until the moment when his spirit departed from his body and he transitioned into his next adventure as a consciousness or a spirit without a body.  Since that time, I have accumulated more knowledge and skills and had more opportunities to partner with folks and help them die in a context of love, grace, and beauty. 

What I bring to the sacred practice of being an End of Life Doula is a grounded, compassionate presence that is open to the profound mystery of death. Drawing upon meditation practices, my teaching experience in the realm of sensuality, intensive study in the expressive arts, earth-based spirituality, and integral counseling psychology, I will partner with you to create a conscious dying process so that you can die pleasurably on your terms.

In addition to End of Life Doula certifications from University of Vermont and the Conscious Dying Institute, I am a member of the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance.
