About this Death Cafe
Death Café Huddersfield are incredibly thankful to James Perkins of Coffeevolution Huddersfield, for donating the use of their cafe on a monthly basis.
About Stephanie Pogson
Stephanie has worked closely with themes of death and dying during a 20 year career in social welfare; however, it was the loss of her uncle to cancer in 2019, that brought her to the immediate face of death itself. In the aftermath of loss, Stephanie found local, open, unbiased, secular conversation around death and dying, to be lacking.
Now training to be a secular 'End of Life Midwife (Death Doula)', Stephanie decided to set up Death Café Huddersfield, as a safe place for those who want to discuss our inevitable journey and shared experience(s).
Alongside the above, Stephanie is a sound artist with a keen interest in how we respond to sound as therapeutic support. She also works at the other end of the life cycle, in birth and early years support, maternal mental health and children's art workshops.
