About S.W.I.R.L.
S.W.I.R.L. (Social Work in Real Life) is a group created by graduate social work students aimed to expand the discussion of social work outside the walls of a classroom. S.W.I.R.L. aims to build upon real life experiences to enhance the knowledge and application of social work practices in a way that is real, stimulating, and exciting. We are so glad to have you be a part of this journey with us!
Lead Facilitator: Neil Gorman (DSW, LCSW)
Dr. Neil Gorman is a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist in practice at SamaraCare Counseling, and an assistant professor in the Aurora University School of Social Work. Over the past two years much of Neil’s academic work has focused on the different ways that a failure to respect difference can (and has) lead to the radicalization and weaponization vulnerable people who are different.
