About this Death Cafe
The Champaign Public Library is a great venue for our Death Cafes. It's located near the bus line.
We welcome those who come to talk or to listen. Just drop in. It's okay if you have to leave early.
We talk. We eat cake and, sometimes, make new friends. No judgment!
This is not a grief support group.
This IS a conversation. No preset agendas, sales or passing out forms is allowed. Anyone with a structured presentation is going against the values of Jon Underwood who founded Death Cafe.
About Sherry Gilles
Sherry Gilles is a retired RN who moved to Champaign, IL in 2015 due to blindness and needing great transportation options.
Sherry is also a death midwife and has been hosting conversations on death via Death Cafe since 2012. She has hosted dozens in the Champaign-Urbana area adhering strictly to Jon Underwood's model.
She is assisted by Raymond T.Anderson who is a musician. He has been helping since the adventure began.
Both had early losses and encounters with death that left deep impressions on them. They are good listeners.
