About this Death Cafe

At a Death Cafe, we drink tea and coffee, eat cake, and discuss death. The aim is to increase awareness of death to help ourselves make the most of our (finite) lives. What's on your mind about death and dying?

In this group discussion we will cover whatever topics or questions you bring to the group.

Tea and desserts will be provided.

Please email me at

sarah@deathpositivedc.com

to RSVP. Right now this death cafe is full but  I am keeping a waitlist. Let me know if you want to be added to the list.

This is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session.

Rhizome is a quick walk from the Takoma Park Metro on the Red Line. There is also plenty of street parking (which should be free at that time of day) and there is a small parking lot behind Rhizome.

The Death Cafe is a free event. Rhizome is a non-profit community space, and donations to Rhizome are encouraged. You can bring cash for the donation box the night of or I can send you an online donation link.

About Sarah, Founder & Director of Death Positive DC

I am the founder and director of Death Positive DC.Death Positive DC was started in May of 2017 and is the first organized death positive group in the Washington, DC-area (covering DC, Northern VA, and parts of Maryland near DC). My mission is to promote conversations about death and connect people around this topic through social media and in-person events in the DC-area.

Please visit www.deathpositivedc.com and www.facebook.com/groups/DeathPositiveDC

I want to normalize death as a natural part of life and help people become more comfortable thinking and talking about death. By acknowledging and talking about death, we can live our lives more fully.

I took INEDLA's end of life doula workshop in September of 2016 and have been hosting death cafes since November of 2016. Email me at sarah@deathpositivedc.com if you have any questions or want to connect.
