Death Cafe London final update
Posted by Jon Underwood
Dear Death Cafe London Supporter, As you may know, our share offer closed on Saturday and I wanted to update you as to where we stand. In total we raised £39,574 from 182 investors, amounting to the sale of 791 shares. Though substantial this is only 15% of our estimated cost of opening. As we didn't reach our target none of the money committed has been taken. Despite not reaching our target the project has been successful in a number of ways. People have definitely engaged, with our crowdfunder page viewed 7,944 times and our video viewed 8,233 times. It has also been featured in the Independent, Vice, Sky News, the Telegraph and others. Despite being unusual, Death Cafe London was received credibly and was a step forward in the development of innovative work around death. It has got people thinking about death, which is exactly what Death Café exists to do. Thank you for your support of the project. We will think carefully about how to take this work forward now and would welcome your thoughts on this. In the meantime we hope to continue to support pop-up Death Cafes, of which over 1,200 have taken place in 2015. Both offering pop-up Death Cafes and the work to develop Death Café London have real costs and we need to raise funds for it to continue. If you would be prepared to use some or all of your proposed investment to enable this to happen, we would really appreciate it. You can make a bank transfer to UK account number 21205307 sort code 40-05-31 or use paypal. Wishing you a wonderful festive season. Thank you again. Jon
