Hello, I am often asked if someone can bring their child. While I prefer not, I find it difficult to answer this question at times.  I am curious about the thoughts of others.   Thank you

Under 18 years of age

My experience of doing Death Cafes is 3.5 years. I did attend a Death Cafe where there was a 13 year old. It wasn't my Cafe but the feedback from the adults at that table was we felt we had to support this young man. Which translated into we didn't have a Death Cafe for ourselves. I think 13 is too young. 18 and sometimes go to 16, 17 but I tell people 18+ and above. It's natural to protect children and the purpose of the Death Cafe is to have adults curate their own experience. Karen in San Diego

hi

The guidelines state all ages. I will ask people not to bring young children if they cannot stay, themselves, to participate. While uncomfortable death happens to and affects all ages. I also think it might be a good idea to have an activity in case a child shows up. :)
