I have a question, the page said new religious groups can't be a supporter, does that mean my Unitarian Universalist church could not donate space or coffe and tea? Thank you Linda Lockhart

I question Unitarian Universalism as being labeled "new" given it's origins (1568) in Europe. I wonder if some who do not understand the history of UU somehow thought that the merger of the Unitarian and Universalist churches in 1961 was when the church was founded? Several signers of the USA's Declaration of Independence were identified Unitarians/Universalists. :)

Church or no church?
i'm confused by the post of April 20 from Chloe in Marin holding it at their church? this seems to imply that it is not ok?
i would assume most churches would have both the space and the desire to talk about it. curious. is it depending on each individual basis? please respond, jon? thanks!

Hi Linda,
Thanks for your question. We go by the list of new religious movements on Wikipedia here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_new_religious_movements
Any organisation on this list is not permitted to organise or sponsor Death Cafes. I hope this answers your question.

Posted by Jon UnderwoodThat Wikipedia list is rather arbitrary. Unitarian-Universalism is a “new movement” as much as United Methodism. More to the point, Religious Humanism is newer still, but not on the list. Probably time to edit Wikipedia ;-)
