Hi, I went to a post death cafe discussion at a local hospice last week. I was struck that by holding it in this type of setting, the attendees have 'roles' that they wouldn't have in non care settings, ie: 'patients', relatives & staff. This led to a mix of expectations and hopes, and I guess helped some, but mybe hindered others. Good luck.

First choice for a location for Death Cafe would be someplace neutral, not connected to the industry.

Great comment deathcafenv! I couldn't agree more. Death Cafes for staff working with end of life can be really powerful and productive. I've had experience of this personally. However I've also encountered 'cultural resistance' to Death Cafes for staff in some settings!

Sort of a tangentially related comment: I think hospices should hold death cafes regularly for their own staff. I've worked for 3 hospices and we never did anything like that, but in looking back, I think it would've been very beneficial.

Hi Amanda we have been having similar discussions and think we will hold it (or them) in our patch but not at the hospice itself.
