Our group " Last Breath " hosted our last Death Cafe Northumberland event for 2014 in October on the sandy shores of Cobourg Ontario. We had 21 people attend ( last minute cancelling of 8 people ) and are never disappointed in what unfolds in the way of sharing and conversing on this difficult subject of death. We are in the process of scheduling our next year's events and adding film presentations and discussions on alternate days. It seems this discussion topic is ever expanding and desired so we will keep hosting for those who desire such a gathering.

Death Cafe write up: Death Cafe Northumberland

As the host group " Last Breath " we were able to have a great turnout for our summer gathering by the lake. Twenty seven people attended and the discussions keep deepening. Repeat participants spreads the word of this great event very effectively. Our sixth event will be in October in Cobourg, Ontario.

On June 24th Last Breath offered another opportunity for the Warkworth community to participate in a stimulating conversation about death and dying, We had 25 people attend and the feedback was that this event was interesting, informative and enlightening. There was a varied faith tradition background with this particular event which proved challenging at times for some of the participants. All in all a lively time had by all.
We are offering our next Cafe in Brighton Ontario in August and we hope there will be enough interest for people to attend during this time of year.

We " Last Breath " hosted our 3rd Dath Cafe event in Cobourg with a crowd of 35 people plus our group of 5. A packed house. Interesting the 3 words that seem to be repeated as words to describe the participants esperience in all three locations where we've hled these events is Enlightening, Interesting and Informative. As a facilitator I took more time in explaining that this event was for the participants sharing not the giving of information. There is desire for this as well. We had a great showing for our 2nd Death Cafe in Brighton, Northumberland County, Ontario Canada. We had 25 participants who shared lively converstions about how they were prepared for their end of life, new choices for disposition to consider and how important it was to have others to share their beliefs, concerns and knowledge with. A resounding success and many wanted more opportunities for these discussions.

Our first Death Cafe event, even with the winter storm, was well attended.
Our first event took place in Warkworth Ontario with an attendance of 27 people. There were 23 women and 4 men. The age range was predominately between 65-74, followed by the range of 55-64. We allowed a half hour for everyone to get settled with their tea and treats before we started our meeting.
Introducing what a death cafe was and where it all began was a good beginning. The venue we had arranged, allowed for wonderful conversations to unfold. Warm fireplace and individual tables created an intimate, but open atmosphere. Participants felt safe.
