About Alysia Anne:

I am a full time practice-led PhD candidate currently researching at Northumbria University in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. My thesis and studio practice navigate personal, traumatic loss through photographic practice using damaged and broken equipment as a proposed language of mourning.  When I'm not talking about death, dying, or bereavement, I'm complaining about how difficult it is to talk about death, dying, and bereavement without making everyone else the room really uncomfortable.  I hope to be a part of helping to change that.

Thoughts for sharing:

"For, conversely, if death is indeed the possibility of the impossible and therefore the possibility of appearing as such of the impossibility of appearing as such either, then man, or man as Dasein, never has a relation to death as such, but only to perishing, to demising, and to the death of the other, who is not the other."

Derrida, J. (1993) Aporias. Stanford, CA: Stanford Press. p 76.
