What brings you to Death Cafe?
Since 1998 when I published my first book, Some Folk Say: Stories of Life, Death and Beyond, I have been giving workshops and courses designed to help people change their relationship to death from fearful to accepting. I use the folktales in Some Folk Say to open discussion and invite rich dialogue and reflection. As soon as I heard about Death Cafes last spring, I started hosting one in my home.
What would you like your legacy to be?
She was one of the many people who helped engineer the shift from the dominent worldview of unbridled compitition based on dualism, where fear was the prime motivator to one based on an interconnected and interconnected world where life and death are inseparable partners and love is the dominent force.
Thoughts for sharing:
My new book, An Insistence on Life: Releasing Fear of Death to Fully Live, is filled with inspirational real-life stories of how accepting death transforms life. One reader said, "Gignoux's true-life anecdotes offer readers an opportunity to transform our misperception of the death experience into a celebration of life."
Death Cafes provide a safe and respectful environment for vigorous conversations where people can air long-suppressed thoughts, feelings and questions about the many aspects of death.
