About Maggie Babb:

I was active in the "natural birth" movement in the 70's & 80's. Now I am interested in "natural death"--in breaking the taboos around dying, to investigate dying in an informed, aware, celebratory way. I like to assist others who want to die--to leave this life--with the same awe, awareness and excitement with which they were born into this life. I have twenty three years of expereince teaching Reiki Classes and stewarding an emerging arts center. I love working with people.

What brings you to Death Cafe?

The Death Cafe format matches my style: to let participants guide the investigation around death in an open, safe, non-judgmental way. The group always reveals what is essential to say/hear/discuss. I love facilitating people in any kind of enlightening discovery.

What would you like your legacy to be?

I have always been one who questions the status quo, who asks, "How can this be better?" I would like my legacy to be that of pioneering, innovative investigation with the greater good as the bottom line. A favorite inquiry of mine is, "Is that true?"

Thoughts for sharing:

"A good dying is nothing less than cultural subversion. Advocating for, providing for, pursuing good dying for ourselves and for those we love is a political and a spiritual project. It is an act of love and of revolution. Knowing death well and being useful when it comes is a redemptive thing. It is a debt that we owe to those generations we will not live to see."
