Another successful Death Cafe for Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge

Evaluation of Death Café in Waterloo Region on Sunday March 30 2014

This was our second Death Café in Kitchener ON Canada. We had 15 in attendance.

We continued having a live musician who only played as folks were arriving and in the 15 minute break in our two hour café. Nine of the 15 were new and the rest had attended the first one (in November).

In the evaluations, every single person reported that they felt “very comfortable”!

A couple of folks wanted longer conversations! And a couple wanted shorter introduction at the beginning by the facilitators!  All good signs of engaging conversations!

Here are specific comments on the evaluation question:

How has attending this Death Café affected your thoughts or feelings about death                    and/or life?

“not significantly-I’ve done much thinking already”

“increased awareness of living, the process of grieving”

“made me more comfortable talking about death even with people I don’t know.”

”it provoked me.  I recognized things I need to give thought to”

”opened conversation”

“ great to just t-a-l-k-“

 “continuously exploring my feelings”

“Focused my thoughts and made me think about what I want and let my family know” “feeling privileged/opened my mind”

 “even more to love life”

These kinds of comments remind me why Death Cafes are SO important!
