About this Death Cafe
I started this Death Cafe in 2013 whilst I was caring for my dementia'd mum. So I could learn more about end of life, signs to watch for. How to accompany her in those final breaths. An article by Jon Underwood inspired me to see if there were other folk locally wanting to explore the seemingly endless matters which arise before, during and after a death.
We have met regularly since, every week for the first few years, now on various evenings and mornings in and around Malvern.
The conversation flows from who ever is there, usually a small group up to 8 people, everyone gets a chance to share if they wish, or listen. There is often laughter sometimes tears. A safe place is held and it's always new, with more to explore.
Check out our Malvern Death Cafe facebook page, or ask to be put on our contact list to be informed about future dates and venues.
About Sue Friston
Sue worked in admin then developed into a yoga teacher, classes put on hold in 2012 when mum got dementia so I packed up and went to live near her.
Several friends had died which prompted me to extend my life long interest in death, purpose, legacy, and conscious living.
Since mum died in 2016 I'm still easing my way through to what comes next.
More death cafes, a gradual return to teaching yoga. Slow, meditative ways. Providing cake and the opportunity for people to talk to strangers about these matters continues to be a priviledge.
