About this Death Cafe
I don't believe my hometown of Oxnard has ever had a Death Cafe. Since my husband and I have a big old house, we decided it would be helpful to open it to our community for this event. We are looking forward to meeting others interested in the topics of death and dying.
About Robin Fontana Kent
Committed to learning and to service, Robin Fontana Kent worked for over 30 years as a high school teacher, counselor, and administrator. She has a Master’s degree in English and a Doctorate in Education from California Lutheran University.
Robin is an Usui/Tibetan Reiki Master Practitioner/Teacher, a Karuna Reiki Master Practitioner/Teacher, and a Reiki Drumming Practitioner. A student of shamanic healing practices, she is a graduate assistant for Shaman’s Journey, where she first learned of the conscious dying movement.
Her work as a hospice volunteer led Robin to deepen her practice so that she could more fully serve both the dying and their loved ones. She studied at Sacred Crossings in Los Angeles and earned certification as a professional death midwife, home funeral guide, and celebrant. Robin recently launched her end-of-life services business, Anam Cara.
Robin sees end-of-life care as an age-old tradition, a sacred calling, and is humbled by the power it holds to connect us and to heal us. Serving as a soul friend, an anam cara, to those embarking on life’s greatest journey is a deeply beautiful experience.
