About this Death Cafe
We are starting a MONTHLY Death Cafe because we want people to regularly have the opportunity to discuss death, without anyone saying "Let's change the subject and talk about something else more positive." But death can indeed be positive, serving as a persistent reminder to live our lives to the fullest, with whatever time we do have left. Many of us are scared of death; medical professionals see it as a failure; and society tends to deny it and discourage us from talking about it. Yet, there are still many of us out there who really want to talk about it! So at Evanston Death Cafe we will come together and openly discuss our feelings, beliefs, attitudes, and fears about death. Hopefully, we will gain a sense of peacefulness and freedom in our sharing with each other, as well as a renewed inspiration for living! Please join us. Refreshments served, and is free-of-charge. This is solely a discussion group and is not suitable or appropriate for the newly bereaved or those seeking a grief support group. We will meet regularly on the first Friday of each month (except on legal holidays) from 10:00am until noon at the Levy Senior Center in Evanston. Our September meeting has been cancelled due to the holiday. See you in October!
