About this Death Cafe

Linda and Michelle became friends and after many shared conversations about life and death and attending a Death Cafe last year, we decided to host one of our own.

Death is such an important topic--something that impacts all of us and yet we often fear it, avoid it or are repulsed by it.

Living our lives to the fullest, honoring death in a meaningful way and connecting with one another is why we are hosting this Death Cafe.

We hope you will join us and Yes!...We CAN enjoy the subject of death, some cake and one another's company!

About Linda Willey & Michelle Olson

Rev. Linda Willey is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church.  She has served churches in Kansas before moving to the Hudson Valley.  Her experience with funerals and providing pastoral care to the families sparked her interest in creative conversations about people’s understanding of death.

Michelle Olson is a licensed, board certified creative arts therapist who works specifically with older adults, here in the Hudson Valley.  Michelle has worked in nursing homes for 20 years, and witnessing how death is often unspoken and hidden from view, has created a strong desire to help acknowledge death as a sacred transition and celebrate the life that we live.  Michelle is currently working on her PhD in Leadership in gerontology to help improve the lives of older adults with a focus on long-term care.
