About this Death Cafe
The Death Becomes Us: (TBD) is a multi-site exhibition on the universal theme of loss. From both a historic and contemporary perspective, the exhibition explores how our community copes with grief and practices mourning when a loved one passes away.
Exhibitions include: a community engagement piece about cultural practices surrounding loss and mourning, a historical re-enactment in a Victorian home on the death of a patriarch, a public art installation which asks the community to contemplate and share their ‘bucket list’, and an investigation of popular culture representations of gothic horror stories feared by contemporary audiences and adored by the Victorians.
