Attendance is free—and if you would like, you can buy treats baked by the students to eat during the event. This is not a fundraiser but all proceeds from the purchase of baked goods will go to the Palliative Care Unit at the Jewish General Hospital in Montréal.

About this Death Cafe

We believe its important to bring the frank and thought-provoking conversations we have about death and dying in our classes outside to the larger community. It is our hope that inviting death to come out of the closet will enable us all to fear death less and to live life with greater courage and openness.  


About Dr. Kelly McKinney and 115 students from her Humanities course, Views on Death and Dying

For the past eight years, cultural anthropologist and teacher, Kelly McKinney, has offered the course, Views on Death and Dying through the Humanities, Philosophy and Religion Department at John Abbott College. Along with 115 of her students, Dr. McKinney is hosting three sessions of Death Café on 23 November, 11h30-12h45 and 24 November, 8h30-9h45 and 10h-11h15, 2015, for the college community.
