About this Death Cafe

Dorothy House is passionate about enabling people to live well and die well.

To kick off Dying Matters Week 2016, Dorothy House Hospice Care is hosting its first Death Café - a place to meet, eat cake, drink coffee or tea, and talk about death.

The aim of a Death Café is to increase awareness of death to help everyone make the most of their (finite) lives. There is no agenda, objective or theme to the event. It is simply a safe, relaxing space for people to talk about death and dying.

The event will be facilitated by Sue Caden, experienced Death Cafe facilitator, harpist and Dorothy House volunteer, who is passionate about ending the taboo around death and dying and increasing awareness of the reality of dearth so we can enjoy feeling more alive.

(Please note that the death cafe is not a bereavement, trauma or grief counselling group. We can signpost you towards other agencies in the community which are available for this.)

** Please register your attendance by contacting us, as spaces are limited. **

About Dorothy House Hospice Care

Dorothy House Hospice Care works within the community to support people with life-limiting illness, their families and carers.

Covering an area of over 700sq miles including Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES) and parts of Wiltshire and Somerset, the majority of our care is delivered in the home and the community. Our services provide an alternative to hospital care and help save the NHS money.

Our education programmes enable health and social care professionals to deliver best practice palliative care.

Providing end of life services requires significant funds and for every £1 from the NHS, we have to raise £4.
