About Heather Martel
Heather Martel has been engaged in end-of-life studies since 2015 and local community deathcare initiatives since 2019. Her support work is informed by a professional background in event coordination and academic advising, plus experience in hospice, funeral, and mental healthcare settings.
Heather’s interests include how contemplative practices can increase our capacity to meet change and loss, and how consciously engaging with life’s little deaths can help prepare us for the inevitable. She’s passionate about igniting conversations and spreading awareness around what is possible when we are willing to make space for death.
