Could anybody cast some light over the poem below as far as the author and why it was written?.

I heard that a Jewish lady settled in Canada after the second world war and confided her sadness to a lady friend of not being able to grieve for her mother who died during the Holocaust as she didn`t have a grave. This Canadian friend of hers wrote this poem then conveying the message that to grieve you don`t need a grave as she could see her mother in all the beautiful things of Nature.

"Do not stand on my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awake in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there,I did not die."
