About Alainna Garlick:

As a massage therapist of 10 years, I'm familiar with the body and how it comes through the joys and trials of life. I enjoy holding space for others to work through difficult emotional topics as we work on the body simultaineously. This work brought me train as an End of Life Doula. What I've noticed in my own community is that the topic of death and dying is not easy to approach, and I am looking to facilitate that conversation, as I believe that opening up to and communicating with members of our community reduces stigma and fear around death.

What brings you to Death Cafe?

I came to know about Death Cafe through an end of life doula training this past summer. I thought that the idea was excellent as a way to bring people together in community and approach a taboo subject that there may not often be space for.

What would you like your legacy to be?

I'd like my legacy to be one of authenticity, compassion, and grace. I love the idea of being remembered as someone who held the space for people to come into their own, with their own thoughts, values, and ideas; embodiment of their true self.

Thoughts for sharing:

I believe that discussing death helps us to align with our priorities in day to day living, enriching our experiences as we travel together in this world.
