About Kanashimipost:

Kanashimi Post (“Postbox for Sorrow”) is a non-profit group based in the Kansai region of Japan, comprised of graduates from the Institute of Grief Care (Osaka) Sophia University.  Our aim is to offer care for those who are grieving from loss of all kinds including bereavement.  Our hope is that instead of struggling to “get rid of” their grief, people will feel supported in finding their own pathways to a deeper acceptance of their sorrow. We periodically offer lectures and workshops to educate the general public and care providers on topics of grief care.

What brings you to Death Cafe?

We hope that offering a safe space to talk about “death” with no agenda will provide people with opportunities to openly express and reflect on their views, which may lead to new discoveries about their lives, their world and those of their loved ones.

What would you like your legacy to be?

To offer support to friends and family.

To create a society that fosters a desire to “want to live fully as oneself, simply because were born”

Thoughts for sharing:

“We should strive, not to search for an actual image of the dead, but to simply acknowledge the truth that you are feeling the presence of the dead.”  Eisuke Wakamatsu
