About Brigid's Balm:
Certified Thanadoula, Life Cycle Celebrant, Home Funeral Guide. Based in Smiths Falls, Ontario, I am an Advanced Care Planning Facilitator and also provide teaching and communicating opportunities via workshops and seminars focusing on various aspects of end of life care. Compassionate caregiving, spiritual counsel, caring and respect are of utmost importance in the work I do as a Thanadoula, Guide and Celebrant. With years of experience and constantly upgrading my knowledge, I look forward to being of assistance to those seeking a good quality of living at the end of their life, and to help them achieve their best death possible.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
I have wanted to facilitate a Death Cafe for years but have been previously unable to find a location within this very conservative community. Times are now changing and a location has become available and I look forward to hosting monthly meetings within The Soul Space where I work. I believe this to be a death positive movement and support open discussion on various topics surround death and end of life matters.
What would you like your legacy to be?
I would like to be remembered as being kindhearted, a good person, and supportive to others in times of need. As a Thanadoula I wish to alleviate people's fear of death, and to assist people in experiencing their best death possible. (This is not a "catch phrase", but meaning that they are able to die the way they want to, peacefully and without pain. Any loved one left behind will never experience a "best death" because their loved one is gone.) I want people to learn to accept death as a natural part of the life cycle, and to embrace the sacredness of the moment for what it is, a transition.
