About this Death Cafe

The Scottish Partnership For Palliative Care organizes GOOD DEATH WEEK every year, celebrating the positives of living in a society where people are open about death and dying.

As well as the Death Cafe on Sunday 19th May, Falkirk Council's Bereavement Services team are hosting a number of events at the newly refurbished Falkirk Crematorium, including a “Plan Your Own Funeral” workshop, and a talk by Dr. Fiona Downs of the Death Certification Review Service, as well as behind-the-scenes tours of the Crematorium, all FREE and bookable at Eventbrite

About Stephanie Hutchinson

A former television producer, Stephanie Hutchinson is now a qualified counsellor and group facilitator who works part-time for Caledonia Cremation, Scotland's first not for profit funeral director. The award winning social enterprise, specialising in direct cremations, was founded in a bid to reduce funeral poverty in Scotland.

Stephanie's role encompasses funeral and bereavement advising and support, and community engagement, as she is passionate about breaking the taboos around death by educating and encouraging people to make both informed and creative choices that suit their individual circumstances.

The Death Cafe is an opportunity to gather with others and discuss all things death related - there is no specific agenda and participants are free to bring whatever topic they wish.

We do advise though that it should not be treated as a bereavement support group.
