About this Death Cafe

The day of this event was chosen specifically to fall within the time frame when several cultural events occur as a way to honor the deceased through various traditions...including, Halloween, Samhain, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), All Souls Day.

All attending are invited to bring photos of deceased loved ones, come in costume, bring candy, or share other traditions unique to their own culture's recognition of the deceased.

About Pastor Ali Haynes and Chaplain Jon Kleinman

Ali Haynes is the Senior Pastor at Indian Heights United Methodist Church; she has experience working in hospice care, leading funerals, and helping loved ones process the journey of death before, during and after the loss of loved ones.

Chaplain Jon Kleinman is a hospice chaplain with Vitas Healthcare in Lenexa, Kansas. He is passionate about tending to the spiritual needs of those who are dying, as well as the needs of family and the larger community.

Pastor Ali and Chaplain Jon will be present to facilitate the group, as needed.
