About this Death Cafe
I have focused my career on the field of thanatology, death, dying, grief, and loss. I attended the first Death Cafe' in Hong Kong in 2014. I'd like to assist my students at RUC to increase opportunities on campus to discuss death. This is an example of civic engagement on campus.
About Dr. Reid's Psych of Grief and Loss Course
Jon K. Reid is a visiting instructor at the People's University in Beijing (Renmin Da Xue). He is teaching a course in July 2018 "Psychology of Grief and Loss" and his students and teaching assistant will assist with all aspects of this Death Cafe' so that it will be available in both Chinese and English. Dr. Reid is a member of and past-president of the Association for Death Education and Counseling (www.adec.org). He is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Professor of Psychology and Counseling in the United States.
