About this Death Cafe

Why is it so hard to talk about death?  Are there conversations you’re dying to have? What concerns do LGBTQ+ people have about death and dying?

To help start the conversation, ACON warmly invites you to our first Death Café - a relaxed, open conversation about death and dying.

This event is open to all members of the LGBTQ+ community aged 18+.

About Nico Bell

Nico Bell is the Community Health Promotion Officer at ACON for Taking Control – ACON’s project supporting LGBTQ+ people in palliative care and death planning. The purpose of Taking Control is “starting the conversation” – supporting LGBTQ+ people to start having the difficult but important conversations around death and dying. People are often eager to have these conversations but may not know how to begin or the options available to them. Conversations around death and dying are often taboo in our communities – but as LGBTQ+ people, we’ve a history of breaking taboos and need to recognise how important these conversations are for our communities.
