About this Death Cafe

Both Christine & Susan beleive that people are interested in speaking about death, dying, ooss and grief given the opportunity, and a safe/supportive environment. We aim to create those spaces for our Death Cafes.

About Susan Barber & Christine Kovach

Both Susan & Christine have worked in hospice  for the last 20+ years. Christine is an LCSW with a priviate practice that focuses primiarlily on issues of loss, grief, and end of life. Currently she works also as a bereavement coordinator for a local, not for profit hospice program.

Susan has worked in end of life care since San Francisco's AIDS epidemic landed her square in a pandemic, she has been a hospice volunteer coordinator for 20+ years, having trained more than 600 people as hospice volunteers. Most recently, Susan  created  a Hospice Community Education program that was attended by more than 11,000 people. She now works with the Humane Prison Hospice Project, working towards making hospice available for all incarcerated people.
