Primer Death Cafe, Costa Rica

Our first Death Café was way better than we spected. It was in the center of San José, Costa Rica; in Apetico Coffee Shop. We've got the place, the cake and the people, but no plan whatsoever. We trusted a lot in the supposition that people would talk and discuss with little or no help. That was true. It was very fluent, exciting, funny and respectful.

We started around 3:10pm, in Apetico Coffee Shop with six people. The first part was presenting ourselves, talk about our interests and some experiences with death.
Two more people showed up around 3:40pm, so we finished our first round of presentations, ordered coffee and drinks, and then went back to the last two presentations. Some talked about personal near death experiences, others shared their concerns about "not feeling the right way" when someone died, and also some people told us about family death rituals.

Then we opened the general discussion, and cuted the cake. We spended aroun two hours talking about life and its pourpuse, growing old, dying young, and a lot of other related topics. It was an active talk, with many points of view and a lot of respect.

We were there until the topic stopped being life and death and became superheroes. That was around 6pm. We said goodbye to our happy guests and then left the place.

We really loved the experience. It was easy, deep, and exciting; so Alberto and I want to do it again soon, and also encourage people around us to host more Death Cafes in Costa Rica.
