About Cole Imperi:

I'm a designer and thanatologist.

I work professionally in the areas of end-of-life and deathcare (from dozens of angles)—and this work has absolutely enriched my life. I'm an Integrative Thanatologist, am a city-appointed member of the board of overseers for a cemetery, am a certified crematory operator and a creative director

Professionally: I work with businesses like funeral homes, cemeteries, crematories, hospice centers, palliative care facilities, death doulas/death midwives, bereavement and grief counselors, clergy, yoga teachers, ayurvedic practitioners, physicians—if it has to do with end of life (human or animal), that's my area of focus.

I'm also a regular speaker—you might have taken a training from me, been an attendee at one of my presentations, seen me in the Mortal film, seen my TEDx talk or just seen me around town!

What brings you to Death Cafe?

Conversations about loss, death, grief and 'tough stuff' come easily to me. Over my career, I've learned from people far smarter than me, and far more experienced—I'm looking forward to facilitating group conversations about this thing we ALL experience!

What would you like your legacy to be?

I hope that end-of-life experience and approaches were positively impacted from the individual-level to the organizational-level during my lifetime.

Thoughts for sharing:

What's great about death (meaning, those 'big deaths' in life—the death of a person or animal; or 'little deaths'—divorce, lost jobs, house fires, ended friendships and the 'downs' of life) is that we ALL have personal experience. Death/Loss is a great connector, and can bring us closer together.

Thanks to St. Elizabeth Healthcare Comunity Grief Support Center for providing Space, The Globe for providing the cake and Bean Haus for providing tea and coffee!
