About JELLA JOST:
JELLA
Studied Acting, Music in Vienna and Amsterdam, Feminism and Politics on the Universitiy of Vienna, German as a foreign language at University of Vienna. Jella has 2 children and is married. She lives in Vienna and Bad Gastein. Diploma in Yoga 1990 in Canada. Numerous Performances and Works with int. Directors, State Theatres and Free Groups and work as a singersongwriter. Jella works also as an Author as well as Lecturer for Phonetic and Voice at Akademie der BK, Theater Delphin and Pädagogische Hochschulen. Current studies at Lichtenberger Institut für angewandte Stimmphysiologie. Jella had twice close Death experiences that were life changing.
Walter
Artist, Artherapist, Actor, Germanteacher. Partner of Jella.
Long experience in moderating groups, particulary disabled persons or groups in jail. Acted in numerous Films and Theaterproductions.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
ENGLISH:
People here in Vienna are more closed in concern of talking about Death as a Tabu. But Death is everywhere - unseen mostly. We want to contribute to an open and proper examination.
We are both working, thinking and living as artist and feel privileged and committed to social, political movements. We would like to break the silence.
Jella and Walter are moderating the group. We both have long time experiences in doing this, open minds, open hearts and a deep approach to spirituality and ethic fundamentals.

Das Thema Tod ist ein grosses Tabu, das sitzt fest verankert in uns. Unsere österreichische Geschichte ist sehr belastet, voller Gewalt und Tod, wir möchten gerne zur Aufarbeitung beitragen aber auch unabhängig davon uns den Themen Sterben und Tod in allen Facetten widmen.
Als Künstlerinnen fühlen wir uns verpflichtet gesellschaftlichen Prozessen zu öffnen und gemeinsam das Schweigen zu brechen.
Vor allem aber, bei allem Ernst und Tiefe des Themas, sind wir offenen Herzens, guten Mutes und einer Prise Witz.
Die Meetings finden am letzten Sonntag in den Monaten Oktober, November, Jänner, Februar, März, April an einem gemütlichen und sicheren Ort statt.
Aktuell: Kulturverein transferART 1140 Wien. An der Niederhaid 39/20.
Gute Erreichbarkeit mit 48A oder 47A.
Eintritt frei. Unkostenbeitrag 9€.
Wir sprechen Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch.

Eine sehr spannende große Gruppe und dazu auch noch jung. Viel Input von der Expertin und der Filmemacherin. Jede und jeder hatte ausreichend Zeit zum Erzählen oder auch nur Zuhören. Die unterschiedlichen Betrachtungen, Erlebnisse und Schilderungen ergreifen mich jedesmal aufs Neue.
Die NY Cheesecake war sensationell! Thanx Walter!

Einige Neue sind zu uns gestossen, manche zögern noch auch ganz real zu kommen. Ich habe inzwischen mit Elisabetta Lucchi gesprochen, sie hat das erste Death Cafe in Italien begründet, und ich habe über sie im Augustin geschrieben. Ein spannendes Interview, auch über die Dogmen der Kirche, insbesondere in Italien. Wie immer war das Zusammentreffen - diesmal im Nice Rice bei Giti - erbaulich, erheiternd und befriedigend. Manche/r hat von einem Todesfall berichtet - das beschäftigt die Menschen naturgemäss sehr, vor allem wenn es sich um Familie handelt. Trauer braucht viel Zeit, die genommen werden sollte, oft kann dies auch Jahre dauern, aber wir müssen ...

Our little community grows slowly.
Second meeting were less people but deeper and more space and the contents have time to work..
As lot of people do not cancel in time - we decided to take € 5,- as membership fee, so that our expenses are covered and we do not have a minus in shopping and serving food and drinks.
There was a young women in our group, she makes her diploma thesis about death, death cafés....very very interesting! I am so greatful to hear so many touching stories.
Next Meeting on 9th of April at 16:45 same place!
