Thank you to all that came out --it was lovely to have both new and seasoned participants at the first Death Cafe of the fall.  Someone summed it up as a "simple but rich experience" and I would agree.  Other things that were shared in the closing included how people learned new information and  had their own ideas affirmed, how we are so different but also alike, and the belief that we "only get to do death once, so want to do it well."  We also started a dialogue on the value of story in the discussions, bringing up the ways story can both mask deeper emotions if ...

Once again we had a really lovely Cafe..  Seventeen attended and there was a nice mix of ages and gender.  Some of the closing comments included: fascinating and inspiring people, wonderful conversations, exhilarating, and helpful to see how other people are planning.  Several people mentioned how much there is to talk about concerning death and that we are just scratching the surface. There seemed to be a hope that further conversations would lead to deeper topics.  As well, there was interest in having some nights dedicated to specific topics that would have both an information and discussion component.  These wouldn't be death cafes. I will get back ...

There were 20 people at the March 8th Death Café.  As usual after the introduction to the Café we broke into tables of four and part way through the evening switched tables.  We decided that next time we need to spread the tables a little farther apart so it’s easier to hear your own group.  During the final circle many people noted how easy it was and how relaxed, at home, and comfortable they felt.  Someone noted that they were happy to see that people could have such different opinions and yet were very respectful.  "There wasn’t any arguing or persuading." Other comments included: “empowering ...

Sixteen people attended the Death Cafe despite the weather and the conversation was abundant.  One comment at the end, which was echoed by several people, was "Who knew I would feel so uplifted, encouraged and exhilarated after a death cafe."

A group of 21 people gathered in my home January 11th.  After the initial opening information and instructions we broke into 5 groups in various locations.  After about 40 minutes of conversations we took a break and then reformed into new groups for a second conversation. We gathered as a large group in the end to say a few words about our experiences.  The feedback was very positive.  Everyone present wants to come again. Because I had to turn people away I will find a public location that will hold a larger group next time.
