Each participant was encouraged to discuss what was most important to her/him.  Within 10 minutes of starting, the room was filled with chatter and laughter.  One person comented "it's good to be with people who are open to discussing it" (death.)  Anoter noted "I didn't know the  Death Cafe would be so much fun."  Lots of chocolate brownies, and veggies and dip disappeared from the searving platters.

About 12 people attended our most recent Death Café. A few were attending for the first time but, most were returning from previous Death Café events to continue the conversation. The conversations are always lively and full of new discoveries about a wide range of topics. Some of the topics discussed at this last gathering included: near-death experiences, recieving some kind of communication from loved ones who have passed over, what do we want done with our bodies when we die, how the process of dying informs how we choose to live our lives etc. Usually folks find plenty to talk about and the respectful environment created here ...

Seventeen people came together to talk about their own interests related to death.  One person said, "I had no idea what I would hear or say, ahead of time.  It was great to just talk."  Subjects discussed ranged from the practical aspects of advanced directives, etc. to what happens after death, to how to change our society's somber attitude toward death to more of a celebration or honoring of life.  Often, there were outbursts of laughter, as one person noted, "I had no idea talking about death could be such fun!"  Comments were also heard about the linen tablecloths, "fine china teacups" and "awesome cupcakes."  Please join ...

A smaller group gathered a week before Christmas to talk about death but the conversation was still very lively.  One participant commented, "What an opportunity to get down to the important parts of life" and another added, "It broadened my sense of possibilities."  There was a stimulating mixture of new and returning participants.  As always, there were delicious refreshments available.

To join us on the third Thursday of a coming month, just email deathcafe.grantspass@gmail.com telling who would like to attend and we will reserve you a place and send you further information.  If you have questions, call Trish at (541) 862-2377.

16 people gathered this week to talk about death in a supportive and festive atmosphere.  There were linen tablecloths and napkins on the tables and the refreshments were served on fine china.  The refreshment table featured munchies from fresh veggies to sweets, including a home baked gluten-free pumpkin pie that one participant described as "to die for."

And then we talked about death.  Again the room was filled with chatter and laughter.  Comments on our evaluation form included, "Thoughtful, genuine people" and "It was wonderful to have others talk about these deep topics - Beautiful."

Please come join us next time!

Our second Death Cafe Grants Pass was a great sucess.  The room was filled with chatter and the clinking of tea cups and forks on dessert plates.  Most folks talked through the break and 15 minutes past the closing.

People often can't talk to their spouses or families about it, so the idea is to create an environment where talking about death is natural and comfortable.  Some talk about being ready for death or explore the practical things such as advanced directives, funeral arrangements, etc.  Others look at the spiritual side of what happens after death.

There is no agenda other than that of the participants. It is ...
