About The Tiger & You:
Lelia is a Mindfulness practioner and 6 years ago she started to facilitate MBSR, .b and Breathworks programmes in The Netherlands and other countries, with individuals and within the work environment.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
I participated to my first Death Cafe' at the last Conference for Mindfulness in Society last July in Chester, UK. I found the all idea and the approach intriguing and very much needed to reopen the door to an open, genuine conversation on death as the complement of life.
What would you like your legacy to be?
Recently I have been closed to one of my best friends during the last months of life of her husband. The way love stayed always the centre of every single day and highest priority, made the developments a journey constantly and vividly rich of life, where the suffering was embraced with kindness, respect and choice. I never witnessed such a kind of profound love of one person and the circle of love around him before. That's my legacy to let it be love till the very last moment of life.
Thoughts for sharing:
We are whole, the mirror and the face in it (Rumi), so I don't understand how we can forget or being in denial about dying, living & dying as "2 faces of the coin". I have been always afraid of someone I love dying and mindfulness helped me to reconnect with that episode of our life. Further the way of dying and the choices we still have when close to that point is what comes more and more to my attention. For sure I believe the choice starts with the way, the quality with which we intend to spend our daily life.
