About End of Life North Texas:

End of Life North Texas is developing resources for North texans at all stages of End of Life. http://endoflifentx.com

What brings you to Death Cafe?

Community engagement on death and dying in friendly, comfortable surroundings will help us better provide for North Texan’s End of Life needs.

What would you like your legacy to be?

We’d like our kids to tell people their parents were kind.

Thoughts for sharing:

Simplicity and minimalism are having a moment in the U.S. right now, and that movement’s principles fit well with how death can be better viewed/handled in our culture.

Tea! Cake! Death!

Let‘s ditch social norms and meet strangers in public to talk about mortality. These talks are lively and largely positive. Cake will be provided.

Rain can’t stop the Death Cafe!

End of Life North Texas hosted their first event today, and the turn out was excellent. Nine of us chatted easily for two hours about all things death and dying. The mood was upbeat and friendly, and we are looking forward to hosting many more. At the next we plan to implement our Death Library, so watch for our posting if you want to take part.

Kelly gave a great first cafe for our surprisingly under-served piece of the world. Seven of us had a lovely talk about death’s monetary cost, the reality of invisible grief, cultural differences, etc. My eight year old made us all wonder if death even exists in our (possibly false) reality. Portraits were drawn. It was a good time.

The cake didn’t say “death”, which was in no way the fault of our kind organizer. Some grocery stores just aren’t death positive enough yet.

Looking forward to holding our own event in the future.
