About Rev. Karuna Duval, MSW, APBCC:
I am an ordained Interfaith minister and board certified chaplain. I am dedicated to cultivating our connections by raising up our universal humanness; exploring our differences by getting to know one another, and practicing compassion and empathy for all. I offer talks and workshops on conscious aging, death, dying and grief and various spiritual practices and topics. I am the author of Spirituality of Aging: Stirring the Spirit, a chapter in the nationally recognized book, Awakening to Aging: Glimpsing the Gifts of Aging. I am also the co-founder (with her husband, Dan, an Independent Catholic Franciscan priest) of the Interfaith Mission of Sts Francis and Clare of Assisi located in Tulalip, Washingtion.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
After being with my husband who died in 1990, I knew I was going to work in the death and dying field. I have been priviledged to work with end-of-life issues since then and currently work as a hospice chaplain. I facilitated and attended several Death Cafe's in California, and I now offer them in Puget Sound, Washington state.
What would you like your legacy to be?
That I treated people with compassion and kindness.
