Yard Sign Advertising Death Cafe

This sign is posted outside in my front yard.  I get quite a few cars slowing down to read the sign. Unfortunately, none of my neighbors of 20+ years care to ask me about what is a Death Cafe. :-(.

The cafe had a total of 5 participants, 2 of whom were repeaters from the last cafe.

One person just experienced alot of deaths of people close to him; for him this just was an opportunity to vent, and everyone was generous to let him do so.

Overall Death Cafe #3 was a good meeting and the evaluations were all positive.

Admittedly, I wasn't too excited about holding the Death Cafe on this day. For one, it was raining and in Atlanta Georgia, any inclement weather is a reason for people to NOT show up.

Six (6!) people showed up! One person even took the bus to attend. The group brought diverse perspectives to the discussion.

One factor I need to get a better handle on is people going off topic and holding the group hostage with their stories. I want to be polite and I feel that the individual must NEED to get it off his or her chest, but mannnn....it can take the joy out ...

This was the first Death Cafe in SW Atlanta.  Our group of 6 consisted of 4 females (2@65+, 1@40's, 1@18) and 2 males (1@53, 1@23).  I gave the demographics of the group because this cross section of ages provided a lively discussion, plenty of stories and some thoughtful, insightful comments.

A lot of laughter too!

The cake provided a lot of laughter ~ can you believe I actually paid a bakery to make this cake :-)
