About Sandy Ward:

I am a retired librarian, and a volunteer with a nonprofit organization that educates the public about rights and options for dignified, affordable, and meaningful final arrangements:  Funeral Consumers Alliance of Western Massachusetts.

What brings you to Death Cafe?

I like the openness and honesty about death. We will all die someday.  So I think it is best to face that fact, and then concentrate on living well within our limited lifespans. Awareness of mortality brings appreciation of life today and each day.

What would you like your legacy to be?

That I have been helpful to others, providing information or inspiration that they need or appreciate.

Thoughts for sharing:

I like my sister's quote about DNRs. She asked me if I had my IIDDDNR. What's that, I asked.

"If I Die Dancing, Do Not Resuscitate!"

I wrote that down and put it in my pocket, to carry with me to the next dance. I love to dance, as does my sister.
