About this Death Cafe

This death café is an opportunity to discuss thoughts, attitudes and questions about death and dying in a welcoming and open environment with free cakes and drinks provided.

It is not a support group, therapy or counselling. There is no agenda, and we are not here to promote any particular view. We are just happy to discuss all aspects of death.

This event is part of the larger 'Before I Die Festival' which has been organised by the University of York in National Death Awareness Week which is co-ordinated by Dying Matters in the UK.

Bryony Beresford and Fiona Aspinal are researchers based at the University of York.

 

Fiona’s work has focused on quality of services of the end of life, including support for friends and family.  Bryony has researched families’ views and experiences of planning for end of life within the context of chronic illness.
