About this Death Cafe

Death is an unavoidable part of life, but we generally aren't very good at talking about it.  Death cafes provide a chance to talk openly with others about the subject, over tea and cake.

Come and join this friendly, informal session to chat about any aspect of death that you would like to explore.

All welcome, free refreshments!

Please note this is not a bereavement support or grief counselling session.

This event is part of Dying Matters Week, 14-20 May.  To find out what else is happening around Lambeth during the Week, visit: www.healthwatchlambeth.org.uk/advancecareplanning

Access needs
Healthwatch can help with access costs to help you attend this event, for example travel or carer cover if you usually look after someone at this time of day.  Please call Kate at Healthwatch to make arrangements, tel: 020 7095 5764, or email: kate.damiral@healthwatchlambeth.org.uk

About Healthwatch Lambeth and Lambeth Independent Living and Carers' Partnership

About Lambeth Independent Living and Carers' Partnership (ILCP)
The ILCP is a group of local charities working together to help some of Lambeth’s most vulnerable residents: Age UK LambethDisability Advice Service Lambeth (including the Royal Association for the Deaf)  and Help For Carers.  Together they provide a range of services supporting people aged over 55, people living with disabilities, people living with mental health issues and carers of all ages.  Support includes information and advice helplines, advocacy for people in difficulty, assistance in filling forms and claiming a full entitlement of benefits, a befriending service and community development.

About Healthwatch Lambeth

Healthwatch Lambeth in the independent health and care champion for local people.  We ensure people can have their say about the services they use, to help drive improvements.  We also help people find the health and care services they need.

This death cafe will be facilitated by Kate Damiral, Healthwatch Lambeth Engagement Officer for older people’s services.  Kate is running a project with other local organisations on advance care planning, which involves thinking ahead to how we'd like to be cared for at the end of our life or if we're in a situation where we can no longer make or communicate our own decisions.  Kate feels that death cafes are a great way to start talking about these kinds of questions, alongside other things.
