About this Death Cafe

In 2017, I had donated space in Niagara Falls from a community partner. That was amazing, but it kept the conversation limited to one area of the Niagara Region. In 2018, I decided to take Niagara Death Café 'on the road' around the region, and bring it into actual cafés. The reason for this is twofold; it allows for awareness and conversations in other communities, and it brings people into small businesses around the region.

About Merri-Lee Agar

Niagara Death Cafe was founded in 2017 and facilitated by Merri-Lee Agar. Part of her calling as a Death Doula is to create awareness of our mortality and provide a safe space to talk about dying and death. It truly is amazing how many people actually DO want to talk about it, and a Death Café is the perfect place to do so. Merri-Lee is a also a Bereavement Specialist and Reiki Master. She found herself pursuing a career in dying, death and grief after she companioned her own mother on her dying journey in 2010. Merri-Lee has a home based holistic practice but divides her time between that and establishing a Home Hospice Association Chapter in Niagara. Merri-Lee serves clients all over the Niagara Region and the GTA.
