About this Death Cafe
Karuna attended and facilitated Death Cafe's in California and now wants to offer them here in Maryslville, Washington.
This will be the first such event held at the Marysville Library. Future events will depend on participation and interest.
About Karuna Duval
Rev. Karuna Duval, MSW
Karuna is an ordained Interfaith minister dedicated to cultivating our connections by raising up our universal humanness; exploring our differences by getting to know one another, and practicing compassion and empathy for all. Karuna reaches to find the light of the Universal mystery in each person however that mystery is defined, by practicing compassion and empathy towards herself and others, especially when most vulnerable. Karuna completed a Masters degree in Social Work from California State University-Long Beach and a Bachelors degree in Interpersonal Communication from California State University-Hayward. She was ordained by the Chaplaincy Institute in 2003. Karuna has offered talks and workshops on conscious aging, death, dying and grief and various spiritual practices and topics. Karuna is the author of Spirituality of Aging: Stirring the Spirit, a chapter in the nationally recognized book, Awakening to Aging: Glimpsing the Gifts of Aging edited by Myrtle Heery and Gregg Richardson. Karuna is also the co-founder (with her husband, Dan, an Independent Catholic Franciscan priest) of the Interfaith Mission of Sts Francis and Clare of Assisi located in Tulalip, Washingtion.
