About this Death Cafe

When you arrive at Death Cafe, we have two questions for you: What is your name, and why did you choose to come tonight?  You can choose to participate by speaking, or just by listening to what others have to say.

We will not have an agenda to follow - the topics are brought by any group members who have something to share or ask.

Grief resources will be provided to any who need them, but this group is focused on talking about death as a way to enhance the lives we live everyday.  We look forward to having you join us!

About Young Bereavement Professionals Group

Carmen Elliott has been working with volunteers and grieving families since 2011, as a volunteer with The Ulman Cancer Fund, as a Bereavement Coordinator at Heartland Hospice, the Program & Volunteer Coordinator at Amanda the Panda Center for Grief and Loss, and currently as the Academy Coordinator at Hamilton's Academy of Grief and Loss. Her favorite part of Death Cafe is listening to the diverse stories and always learning something new!

Buffy Peters started her career of working with grieving people as an avid volunteer with Amanda the Panda and in August 2014 she started as the Coordinator of Hamilton’s Academy of Grief & Loss, being promoted to Director in November 2017. One of the things she enjoys most about the Death Café is having a safe place where people can openly discuss anything they want regarding death and what ideas the discussion spurs from other participants.
