Emily George, MD

Physician, Summa Health Medical Group – Internal Medicine

 

Emily George, MD, joined Summa Health Medical Group as an internist in 2016. She currently practices at Summa Health System – Akron Campus and is the Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Center.

 

Dr. George earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). Following medical school, she completed her internal medicine internship and residency at Summa Health System – Akron Campus. After residency, she joined on as faculty of the Akron City Hospital/NEOMED Internal Medicine Residency and now enjoys teaching residents as well as caring for patients. Also during her residency, she was an active physician volunteer at OPEN M, Akron’s free medical clinic, and is now the medical director.

 

 

 

Rose Penix, MPH

Research Associate, Department of Medicine, Summa

 Rose is a mother, wife, and avid reader.  Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, she studied Sociology and Anthropology at Kent State University (BA 2010) and Public Health (MPH 2014).  Rose works with several area non-profit agencies that and currently lives in Kent, Ohio.

 

It’s noticeably unnatural, the way that we’ve sterilized and concealed the act and process of dying in our culture.  Restoring visibility to this part of the cycle of life can only benefit us.
