About this Death Cafe

My interest in hosting a Death Café stem from my own experiences surrounding death, my research in end of life, and my experiences as a medical social worker in the emergency department. I want to open up the conversation about death, thereby reducing the taboo surrounding death conversations. I believe that if people are more educated about end-of-life decisions, we can promote a better quality of life for people and their caregivers. Also, as a social worker I feel that it’s important to bring social change to our society and the Death Café guidelines supports these principles.

About Megan Mooney, MSW; Harold McClellan, MSW and Jessica Goehring, BSW

My name is Megan Mooney. I have an MSW and work in end of life research. I'm very passionate about hospice, palliative care and end of life. I've been hosting Death Cafes since March 2013 and love helping to take the taboo off of death. This is such a wonderful community to be a part of. Harold holds an MSW and works in Hospice and is very passionate about end of life work as well. Jessica is working towards her MSW and has experienced many deaths in her onw life and likes to help bring these conversations out into the open.
