About this Death Cafe
1. My interest in hosting a Death Café stem from my own experiences surrounding death, my research in end of life, and my experiences as a medical social worker. I want to open up the conversation about death, thereby reducing the taboo surrounding death conversations. I believe that if people are more educated about end-of-life decisions, we can promote a better quality of life for people and their caregivers. Also, as a social worker I feel that it’s important to bring social change to our society and the Death Café guidelines supports these principles.

I am a social worker and work in end of life research for the University of Missouri. I have been hosting Death Cafes since March 2013. It has become a huge passion of mine.
