About this Death Cafe

At a Death Café people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, enjoy café-type drinks and discuss death.

Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.

A Death Café is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. There are no ''experts'' at a Death Café, therefore no guest speakers etc.

Our Death Cafés are always offered:
- On a not for profit basis
- In an accessible, respectful and confidential space
- With no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action
- Alongside refreshing drinks and nourishing food – and cake!

About Beth Wallace

Beth has been holding Death Cafes in Ireland since January 2016 and involved in the 'death awareness' movment to varying degrees since the early 1990s. She is an Applied Psychology graduate & psychotherapist focusing mostly on sex, sexuality & adult relationship.

Beth's work focuses on sex & death, the entrance into & exit out of life, the portals that are usually taboo & unspoken - she particularly enjoys holding Death Cafes as they provide a non-judgemental & non-directive space to explore thoughts, ideas, opinions & experiences relating to death, which is not something most people usually take time to do, but that can be illuminating and fun!
